HANGING OF THE GREENS
Just in time for Advent ….Hanging of the Greens is Sunday, November 25th, after Worship. Instead of Fellowship treats and coffee, we will gather together for lunch. Afterwards, a few brave souls will go upstairs in the Sanctuary, to locate Christmas decorations and bring them down. We will prepare for the Advent Season by decorating the Sanctuary and the rest of the PCI campus for Christmas. It is a wonderful way to prepare for the coming of our Lord Jesus and gather together as a church. A sign-up will be located at the Hospitality Table as of November 11th.
At the Hanging of the Greens Luncheon, AYLI will be sponsoring a PCI Church Fundraiser by selling white porcelain nativity ornaments. The ornaments that are dedicated will be used to decorate the Sanctuary Christmas Tree.
When you purchase an ornament you can either:
- Designate it for the Sanctuary Christmas Tree. Your name will be listed in the bulletin and noted : “given in memory or honor of loved one(s)”. You can take the ornament home after the Christmas Eve Service.
- You can just purchase Nativity Ornaments as gifts and take them home when you purchase them. They make great teacher gifts, grab bag gifts or even a small token gift when you go to someone’s home over the holidays.
We really hope that you will join us on November 25thfor worship, lunch and decorating as we gather together at PCI as Christ’s church.
THERE’S STILL TIME TO JOIN WOMEN’S BOOK GROUP!
Women’s Book Group invites you to come hang out with us while we discuss Discerning the Voice of God; How To Recognize When God Is Speaking by Priscilla Shirer (available at Hobby Lobby or Amazon). We had our first session on Sunday, October 14th. Originally, the book group was only going to meet twice but we decided that the book is so good that we wanted to S L O W it down. Honestly, we barely got past chapter 3 because there was so much great discussion. If you didn’t get to join us but would like to, here are the new dates and chapters:
November 11 (ch 1-7)
January 13 (ch 8-10)
February 10 (ch 11-14)
The Women’s Book Group meets @ 11:45-ish in the Parish House Lounge. We invite you to bring your coffee and a Fellowship Treat!
THANKSGIVING FOOD BASKETS
This is the season when many focus on being thankful. We sometimes forget to be thankful all the time because life gets in the way. God wants us to be thankful for all we have been given.
But whatever is good and perfect comes to us from God, the Creator of all light. James 1:17 NIV
In recognizing that we have been given much, God asks for us to give to others. And don’t forget to do good and to share with those in need. These are the sacrifices that please God. Hebrews 13:16 NLT
There are people in our own community who are in need. The Colleen Moore Memorial Food Pantry helps to fill that need but families can only receive one bag of groceries a month.
Please help the Deacons of PCI, who create the Thanksgiving baskets, to make Thanksgiving a bit more joyful by contributing the following items by November 11th- canned yams, stuffing mix, apple juice, canned fruit, canned vegetables, complete pancake mix, syrup, turkey gravy, cereal, cranberry sauce
Donations can be left in the Narthex (front room of Sanctuary).
