Studying The Bible- a Topical Study, Bridging Scripture and Our Present Day World
When? Wednesday evenings in the chapel 7-8pm
340 Main St. Islip 11751
The Presbyterian Pastor, theologian, and philosopher Francis Schaeffer said that we not only need to understand the Bible, but we also have to understand the age that we live in. This is underscored by the Apostle Paul’s visit to Athens, in which Paul demonstrated that he had both observed the Greek people’s reaching towards God in their religion, and he had also read Greek poetry. Paul then went on to show how holy scripture had something to say to these people.
There is a sincere reaching towards God, and God’s Word can reach back towards us.
Join us each week as we dig into questions that we ourselves have in this modern age, and explore the answers that God’s word has for us. “Do we each have a personal lived truth, or is there a single Truth outside of us?” “Does God’s word have anything to say about dealing with anxiety?” “How can I discover my talents, and what does God expect of me?” “What does the Bible say about the balance of being a Christian, and of being a citizen of a country?”
“Call to me and I will answer you, and will tell you great and hidden things that you have not known.” Jeremiah 33:3
